About Karatedo Shobukai
Shobukai was established in 1981 by Grand master Sadaharu Fujimoto. The ideal karate of the Shobukai is to continue lifelong learning karate. Through practicing karate, we will cultivate "sound mind and body” and aim for a lifelong martial art. We teach beginners safely with an emphasis on individuality.
There are various styles of karate, and it be divided into traditional karate and full contact karate. Shobukai is traditional karate and belongs to the All Japan Karatedo Federation, the Tokyo Karatedo Federation, and the Shinagawa-Ku Karatedo Federation.
Around 60 million people practice karate in the world, and enjoy karate. Karate was adopted as a new official event at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

Contents of the class
- Mitt training
- Basic movement
- Kata (practicing alone targeting a virtual opponent)
- Kumite (sparring)
- Interval training
- Stretching
- Mokusou (Meditation)
In the class, basically you need to wear your karate uniform. But if you are a beginner, you can wear exercise clothes for a while.
Schedule & Location
We have a karate class every weekend at Sekimachikita elementary school near Musashi-Seki Station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line.
